VERSATILE artist Calvin Mangena has relocated from Bulawayo to Harare as he targets a bigger audience.
The self-proclaimed Love Advocate also announced the release of another love song titled “Ngiyavuma,” featuring Chillmaster.
Mangena, who is also known as the “Ndebele Prince,” has impressed with his versatility in music.
In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, Mangena said the decision to relocate is a pivotal moment in his life as it is inspired by a desire for change and the pursuit of new horizons.“My journey in music began with a strong belief in my talent. Growing up, l received encouragement from those around me who recognised my musical abilities.
“Singing became my true passion and l set out to build my own brand in the music industry.
“My musical journey includes exploring various genres, including Amapiano, and l recently released a song titled ‘Ngiyavhuma’ and it’s just an acceptance that l agree l really love this person. The song features Chillmaster and it brings out something l have never done ever.”
He added:“Relocation for me is definitely the act of relocating from one location to another in search of inspiration and opportunities.
“Transformation of the creative environment has a profound impact on the artistic process.
“Relocation can open doors to more exhibitions, residencies and other opportunities that may not be available in a smaller or less active art market.
“Being located in a prominent arts centre can enhance an artist’s credibility and reputation within the arts world.
“Exposure to new ideas and perspectives can push an artist to experiment and develop their skills, leading to a more dynamic and diverse body of work, hence the move.
“Coming from a small city I was disadvantaged, however, because of social media and certain individuals I found the right connections.
“Connections are the most difficult part, at least, I had a side hustle at home. I was a barber so I would get money from that to fund my music.”
He started his musical journey in 2018.“My brand motto is ‘insizwa engena kube’nontshintsho,’ which means ‘a humble heart that brings change.’
“As an up-and-coming artist trying to break new ground, l experiment with different genres, including Amapiano and gospel.”
Mangena maintains an active social media presence, including a YouTube channel and an Instagram account, where he shares his music and updates
